Redang island to us is not only beautiful and scenic but memorable as well… Story here
For our 3rd anniversary, we decided there’s no other better place to celebrate than where we first started our relationship…
The first time we went there was with Air Asia and it was too much of hassle. From Kuala Terengganu airport, we have to take almost an hour bus ride to the jetty and wait for boat transfer to the island. The journey from the jetty to the island is about 45min to an hour. It’s not too long nor too short but enough to kill those who have seasick especially when there’s big wave and the boat is going at full speed… hahahaaa!! I’m not kidding.. I almost vomit and my cousin vomited :p
So, to skipped all those unnecessary torture this time, we chose Berjaya Air which operates from Subang Airport that flew directly to the island. It’s a little pricey but the journey time was cut short by half.

The flight from Subang Airport to Redang island is about an hour. The propeller plane was pretty steady but when it hit bad weather, you can really feel the turbulence. We were unable to descend on time due to heavy rain and wind and that’s when we felt that the turbulence was indeed scary…. Everyone was holding on tight to the seat after the plane suddenly went down for errrrrr…. I dunno how many feet 😮

Anyway, we landed safely and the Laguna staffs are already there waiting for us at the arrival area when we reached. There will be many other resort staff waiting for pick up so look for your resort board and if your resort package does not include the conservation fund to Marine Park, you’ll need to purchase it at the counter on your right after you exit the arrival hall. RM5 per adult and RM2 per child.

We were then being transferred to Kampung Redang jetty in Laguna van which only takes 5-10 min where the boat is already waiting for us. The boat ride from the jetty to Laguna resort is only 15 min but my seasick almost attacked me as it was raining and the sea was pretty rough.. Imagine if it was a 45 min ride *green face
I still remember previously when we stay at Redang Pelangi, there’s no jetty for us when we reached the island. The boat stopped as we are approaching the shore and we will have to walk to the beach and those who wear long pants…. so sorry… hahahaha!! so this time we were all prepared with shorts and flip flop but that’s not a concern at all because Laguna has its own jetty right behind the resort.
It was still early when we reached the resort, around 11am but luckily our room is already ready for us. So we happily check-in and went to our room to unpack and freshen up. Our deluxe pool room was spacious with 1 double bed and 2 single beds and are equipped with all the basic amenities. There’s also a channel that keeps on repeating the movie Summer Holiday :p

Good things about this trip is we don’t have to worry about activities and meal. It’s all included in the resort package. The package for 3 days 2 nights stay are inclusive of 3 snorkeling session (mask – RM15 and life jacket – RM15 are charged separately and needs to be return after the last snorkeling trip) and 6 buffet meals (2 breakfast, 2 lunch and 2 dinner)

They have quite a variety of foods but some are not to my liking. The Mr. enjoy it very much though…. He has some penchant towards buffet style meal.

The itinerary are pretty standard for all resort. You can refer here for Laguna resort… Usually each snorkeling trip is about an hour except for Day 2 morning at Marine Park which usually last for an hour half to 2 hour. There’s also where you can see more fish. Each session will start with a short briefing at the Recreation Center about the safety and some rules and regulations to adhere. They also have bread selling at RM1 per packet….. and
it’s not for you, it’s for the fish.. so if you wanted to be surrounded by them, bring along extra cash and go early… they usually sold off fast…
We skipped the last snorkeling trip because we wanted to stay in and enjoy at the pool….
The rest of the free and easy time was spent strolling along the beach while enjoying the panoramic view. When night falls, we chilled and relaxed on the beach chair enjoying the live band accompanied by the sounds of rolling wave.

Below are the view from Sang Suria Restaurant – day and night….. Having meal with such a mesmerizing view is a bliss.
On Day 2, Star Cruise stopped by at Redang island and the passengers gets to spend half day at Laguna resort. They set up extra booth for food and there’s music blasting all corners making the place so happening. Downside of it – it was super crowded!!! Lucky there are gone by 5pm and I get to enjoy swimming in the pool 😀
They said, when you are happy, time flew… True indeed~~
Very soon, the trip came to an end and it’s time to go home again 😦
We left the memorable place with a heavy heart but it’s OK…
We will be back again 😀
probably with our kids next time and tell them this is where mummy and daddy starts dating…. hahahahahaaa :p
