It was about time to check out from Northam hotel when the sky started pouring rain. We decided on Queensbay mall for lunch so that we will not get wet but it seems that the rain is getting heavier that side, so mydaling made a u-turn back to town. He suggested Hainan chicken rice he had 2 years ago which he totally have no idea where is the place but at least he remembered it was near to 7-eleven. It took us a few wrong turns to locate this shop.
It occupied two shop lots with one stall at each side manned by the late Goh Thew Chik’s son.
Business was brisk when we arrived at 12:30pm. We waited a while before we could get a seat and it took three reminders before the meal was served 😦
Finally, hainan chicken for two. The meat was smooth and juicy while the light soy sauce served was just nice, not too salty but we both came to a conclusion that the portion is too lil. mydaling wanted to order chicken gizzards but we are too late for that 😦
The fluffy rice is flavorful and got its fragrance from the chicken broth. I would say it is worth savoring and they also serve roasted chicken.
Total bill was RM10.80 including two ice sugar cane with water chestnut.
Business starts from 11am to 6pm daily except on Wednesday 11am to 3pm.
